Desi Girls Summer 2015 - Week 14- Midweek Chat (Destination 13.1)

Girls,

It is hard to believe we are at TOUCHDOWN. I have decided to skip the 20K (12.4 miles) this saturday in favor of going the full 13.1 miles. While the Half marathon is only 0.7 miles longer than the 20K, I want to make sure you are mentally prepared for this milestone

Few important things to be watchful tomorrow are 1. Staying well hydrated 2. Eating balanced meals (no Indian buffet) 3. Stretch a lot (the more the better) 4. VERY IMPORTANT: Reinforce positive thinking. Believe that you can do it. Keep talking to yourself saying you have worked hard so far and you are going to give your best on saturday. Dedicate your 13.1 to something or someone special. Surround yourself with positive energy and tell your well wishers about the big day on saturday. All these positive vibes will help you tremendously when you are tired and your legs ache.

Like last week, we will start at 6 am at Mile 0, go in the reverse direction upto Mile 2 and come back.Then, we will go up to Mile 6 and come back to starting point

1. Go from Mile 0/7.3 (Reverse direction) to Mile 2 - 5.3 Miles

2. Come back from Mile 2 to Mile 0/7.3 - 5.3 Miles

3. Go from Mile 0/7.3 (Reverse direction) to Mile 6 - 1.3 Miles

2. Come back from Mile 6 to Mile 0/7.3 - 1.3 Miles

Total is 13.2 miles. Yes, I am aware it is slightly more than 13.1 but an extra 0.1 mile will not hurt you.

It is not too late to ask your family members to come and cheer for you. If anyone is interested, let me know. I will work with you to identify places where they can wait in the shade for you. Knowing that a loved one is waiting for you will give you an additional reason to push harder.

You have come so far. Let's make every step count. My Best wishes will always be with you.
