Girls,

We are past the half way point. If you have been diligent with the training program so far, I am confident your body is undergoing changes. Please share your stories with me. Perhaps you have more energy Or maybe you have aggravated an old injury...either way I would like to hear from you so I can judge our progress.

We are scheduled to complete 8 miles this saturday. It is EASY paced. If you completed 7.3 miles last weekend, the incremental 0.7 miles will not be intimidating at all.

I ran a practice half marathon yesterday in preparation for my upcoming event on July 19th. I have worked hard all through winter and spring to get ready for this big day. It took a lot of effort and training to shave off 30 seconds off my mile time during earlier practices. But I was disappointed that my dry run yesterday did not reflect all the hard work. Humidity, lack of sleep and dehydration were some of the reasons I could not reach my potential.

Why do I mention this? I want to highlight the fact that external factors play a huge role in your performance. So, please be lenient on yourself if you are slower than usual on any a given day. Think about what other factors might have contributed and try to overcome them in the next run.

Desi Girls had few success stories last summer. This cover image is from one of our Girls - Anu's Race Bib and medal from the Chicago Half Marathon 2014. I would like to see many more of you tackle challenges and cover distances that you previously thought was impossible.

if you sign up for a race, please let me know. I promise to be there to cheer for you.

Keep moving. Cheers.

Ramya
